***************************** August 23rd 2010 Metra Union Pacific Schedule Changes Metra is changing their Union Pacific (East Lake Forest Train Station stop) train schedules to accommodate upgrading tracks and bridges over the next 8 years. With this change, the BPTC bus schedule will also be changing. Attached is the initial schedule, effective August 23rd. Schedule updates will be posted as we tweak timing to optimize the meshing of the bus service to the new train schedule. BPTC Bus Schedule - 08-23-2010 Final Layer of Asphalt for Field Drive & Field Court - Work Begins Wednesday, July 28th
On Wednesday, July 28 pavement fabric layer installation and final surface course layer and striping (finer grain material pavement-lane closures with flaggers, expect traffic disruption). The asphalt work will continue for the next 3 to 5 days weather provided.
Rt. 60 Road Construction Starting July 5th, 2010 IDOT will be repairing the deck of the Route 60 Bridge of the Middle Fork of the north branch of the Chicago River, located between the Field Court/Rt. 60 and Waukegan Road/Rt. 60 intersections.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction throughout the duration of the project. Construction starts July 5, and ends sometime in August. We are attempting to get a better defined completion date.
Road Resurfacing - Primer Spread Thursday and Friday, June 17 & 18 Tomorrow and Friday the oil based primer coat will be applied to Field Drive and Field Court. Although this dries quickly when the conditions are warm and dry, drive very slowly the next couple of days, especially if they see the spray truck ahead of you. The binder course of asphalt will begin immediately after the oil has dried. So, paving potentially could start as early as tomorrow and will go through most of next week. The contractor is currently about 2 week ahead of schedule.
FIELD DRIVE AND FIELD COURT RESURFACING TO BEGIN MAY 24, Road resurfacing of Field Drive and Field Court will begin the week of May 24, with the work continuing through August, weather permitting. The first part of the project will be the replacement of deteriorated curb sections and some of the adjacent driveway aprons. Driveways affected by this work will remain fully accessible except during curb and driveway apron reinstallation. During the project, no one─including landscapers and other contractors─will be allowed to park on the street. The construction hours are Monday to Friday between 7 AM and 6 PM and on Saturdays between 8 AM and 6 PM. After the curbs are repaired, grinding off the existing surface of the street will commence. Before the new asphalt surface is put down, a liquid bituminous prime coat is applied. This is the “messy” part of the project, so if possible please avoid driving on the street for an hour or so after the prime coat is applied, otherwise please drive very slowly to prevent any splashing onto your car. The last phase of the project will be the application of the new surface and final adjustments to drain structures in the pavement. Additional announcements will be posted to this website as needed. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this project. ************************************************************* CONWAY PARK PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Now that the snow has been cleared from Conway Park sidewalks, employees working in Conway Park and visitors should walk and/or run on the sidewalks instead of the roadways, Field Drive and Field Court. (Illinois Rules of the Road state that Pedestrians must not walk on a roadway unless there is no sidewalk or shoulder next to it). IL Pedestrian Rules of the Road
It is especially important that we adhere to this rule as this spring Field Drive and Field Court will be resurfaced and there will be a lot of construction traffic and equipment in the roadways.
We realize that at times there will be some congestion on the sidewalks and we are trying to alleviate some of this by looking at the possibility of adding sidewalks in the Park where they currently don’t exist. Until then, please bear with us by complying with the law and making courteous use of the sidewalks. ************************************************************ WELCOME TO THE COMMUTER CORNER
